Reading Made Easy
The Premier Story

The Premier story is a story of possibility...of potential...and of promise

We live in exciting times.  At Premier, we believe that with these exciting times come with exciting opportunity.  We see it as an opportunity to create students who are not only the best in the world but are the best for the world.  Times of great change and great turbulence are often the catalyst for the birth of great thinkers and the creators of our future. We are building tools and designing technologies that give birth to possibility, nurture potential and exemplify promise.

From its origins in 2005, Premier Assistive Canada has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student success and to the provision of learning technologies that ensure that success.  Premier tools seek to ensure that all students have the same opportunities to succeed by creating learning environments in which all students can experience academic success regardless of differences.

Premier technologies support and empower giving students the chance to excel.  We make learning tools that make writing smoother, reading better, and studying easier. Premier students use technology as easily and as simply as most students use a pencil.  Our learning tools are designed to work in concert, with each tool supporting and enhancing a different aspect of learning. Students are assisted with reading, writing, and studying. Premier learning tools support learning easily and naturally.

The definition of literacy is in flux – a constant state of evolution.  Technology is reshaping the way we work, live, and interact with each other.  Our students are living and learning in a very different kind of world and, as a result, they are using many forms of media to create meaning in their lives.  More forms of media than ever before are being used.  The average student is spending more time using multiple forms of media yet less time using traditional print-based media.  At Premier, we see literacy as a repertoire of capabilities that students must have in order to use and access multiple forms of media.  At Premier, we believe that can be harnessed and used to bridge literacy education.  We have a long-standing dedication to innovation and design and we are visualizing how can we tap into the natural talents of students and faculty.  We build tools and technologies that ensure a seamless inclusion of technology into the classroom and into the curriculum.

The joy of learning and the power of success should be things every student feels. A student who, for example, requires support to overcome visual challenges and a student who has trouble with reading comprehension could have very different abilities but each could access the same material with the Premier Text-to-Audio tool.  To that end a high-achieving honour student could utilize the same technology to “listen” to a text book, thus creating a valuable study tool.

These exciting times require that students are prepared for a digital world that is still evolving. They require skills that will allow them to find a place within work environments that may not yet exist. They require abilities to solve problems not yet defined. Students must be literate in more ways than we can presently imagine.  They require abilities to solve problems that do not yet exist.

Teaching for and learning in this world presents complex problems but exciting possibilities. Education must be bold and creative and flexible.  It must encapsulate the potential of an exciting future.  The Premier promise is an unwavering commitment to our students, to our teachers and to our parents.
