LD Resources Foundation

LD Resources Foundation concentrates on identifying promising, motivated students with academic challenges in order to provide them with assistance and guidance to help them succeed in Higher Education.  As the world of electronic content expands at a breakneck pace, a cornerstone of this assistance must be making digital literacy tools available to those who need them most.

In January 2008, LDRFA and Premier Assistive Technology created a joint initiative called the “Key to Access Award Program”. The focus of this new award is to create and expand programs that maximize opportunities to provide literacy tools to students everywhere.  The Key to Access Award is based upon Premier Assistive‘s Key to Access portable flash drive / MP3 technology that contains a robust suite of 10 pre-loaded software applications that focus on literacy: Universal Reader Plus; E-Text Reader; Premier Predictor Pro; Ultimate Talking Dictionary; Talking Word Processor; PDF Magic; PDF Equalizer ML; Text to Audio; Scan and Read Pro; and Talking Calculator.  This portable device is designed to make any personal computer accessible; software never needs to be installed on the computer and students can take their electronic files with them wherever they go.

Currently, the Key to Access Award is being made available to selected higher educations institutions in the New York City metropolitan area. Beyond the academic arena, it is also becoming obvious that the need for digital literacy tools should be extended to public service institutions, government bodies and corporations.  LD Resources Foundation will continue to explore additional initiatives to bring literacy technologies to all sectors where the benefits can better serve everyone.
