Premier Assistive Announces the Release of Accessibility Suite 5.5 – Network Edition
Premier Assistive Technology announces the release of the Accessibility Suite 5.5 Network Edition. “Breaking Down All Barriers” to the use of assistive software is the core philosophy behind Premier’s mission statement. Several of the most common barriers are software deployment and upkeep. Getting the software installed across an entire organization can be difficult, let alone keep it up-to-date. While our Suite of applications are already easy to install, our new Network Edition further simplifies software deployment by running all the tools from a central location on your network. Not only is deployment greatly simplified, but updating the tools is now as straightforward as copying the updated files to the “common folder” on the central server. Once up-to-date files have been copied, the next time any user on the network selects any tools from the toolbar, it automatically launches the latest version of that application. We’ve eliminated the need to go to individual workstations to install updated software.
Users on the network can access the tools from a “floating toolbar” which is located on their workstation. This floating toolbar will detect which tools are installed on the network and only display those icons to all workstations. The tools then can be launched with a single click. To add tools, just copy the necessary files to the network and to remove tools, just delete the necessary files. The toolbar on each user workstation will automatically adjust to display the changes. Keeping your software updated has never been easier!!
To improve network performance, the network edition comes in two parts (1) “thin client” (e.g. workstation) and (2) the network “common folder”. The files that do not change (but are required by the tools) are part of the “thin client”. This means that when tools are started from the server, they don’t have to keep accessing the server. Installation of the thin client also makes the workstation accessible for our Key to Access technology.
The following Premier Assistive products are available to run from a network server.
